About

Hello! My name is Mary Hubbard.  I am an artisan working from my home studio in Bel Air, Maryland.  After over 30 years of working in fiber, it was my desire for unique beads and buttons to use in my pieces that brought me to working with porcelain, stoneware, and earthenware clays. In 2010, I began creating buttons, beads and pendants to use in my handcrafted jewelry and fiber items and offered my pieces for sale at small art festivals.  I personally create every item and do not use molds in my work.  Each unique ceramic item is created using a pinch method or are built from slabs of clay, shaped, textured, glazed and fired by me in my home studio. Along with my ceramic work, you can also find my handstitched woven fiber baskets, metalsmithing, and mosaics that I create using traditional, ancient, Italian methods.  All of my work incorporates my ceramic pieces in some way adding to my unique aesthetic.

I enjoy making whimsical one of a kind pieces that inspire happiness in others whether it's as a piece of jewelry, special buttons for their clothing, or as a colorful functional piece of art to enjoy in the home, office, or as a gift for someone special.
